Description

An Overview of the Simple Future (Futuro Simples)

The simple future is used to describe an action that will take place in the future, e.g.:
Trabalharei amanhã (“I will work tomorrow”).

It can be used for actions occurring in the near or distant future.

How to Form the Simple Future

The simple future is formed by adding endings directly to the infinitive:

Subject Simple Future Translation
eu falarei I wil speak
tu falarás you will speak
ele/ela/você falará he/she will speak
nós falaremos we will speak
vocês/eles falarão they will speak

👉 These endings are used for all verb types (-ar, -er, -ir):

  • comer → comerei

  • partir → partirei

  • valervalerei
